Join Sunrise Movement as we take the streets of Providence to demand our elected officials treat the climate crisis like the emergency that it is!

On September 7th & 8th, over 1,000 young people from across the Northeast are gathering in Providence for one of Sunrise’s four regional Summits. Over that weekend, attendees will be trained in key organizing skills to build the mass movement needed to stop the climate crisis.

Then, on Monday, September 9th, Summit participants and hundreds of other community members will be taking action in Providence! Our action will make a clear and urgent call to our elected officials: climate change is an emergency and the Green New Deal is the only way to stop it. If they care about our generation, they need to fully embrace the Green New Deal.

More details about the action will be announced as we get closer to the date. Please mark "going" or "interested" on this event to get all of the updates!

FAQs

-- Who is the summit for? --
Young people (ages 13-35) looking for a meaningful way to protect our homes and the people we love from the climate crisis. We value the support and participation of our adults and elders, but this Summit is for developing the leadership skills of our young people in the movement. For individuals over the age of 35, there are other ways to get involved, like joining your local hub, donating what you can, or showing up to stand in solidarity with young organizers at this action.

We believe it’s important that the people we invest our leadership training in reflect the movement we want to build-- a young, multi-racial movement that represents many different backgrounds. We especially want to invest in leaders who have historically been left out of the political process, including people of color and working class people.

-- Can I still attend the action if I don't attend the Summit? --
Yes! We would love to have you!
