National Day of Action for Puerto Rico is a solidarity movement for friends of Puerto Rico to actively support a federal legislative agenda that benefits the island.
WE STAND UP FOR:
1. Robust reconstruction funding for infrastructure, including a new electricity grid for Puerto Rico.
2. Economic development tools and full Medicaid parity for the island.
3. Excluding Puerto Rico from U.S. House and Senate proposals that would impose taxes on Puerto Rican exports to the continental United States, which threaten approximately 250,000 jobs in the island.
We seek to accomplish this in two ways. First, by going as a coalition to Capitol Hill on Monday, December 4th for one-on-one meetings with Congressional staffers to discuss our priorities. Second, providing scripts and resources for those who are unable to join us in Washington, D.C. so they can make their voices heard from their communities.
The event coordinators will schedule some meetings with Congressional leadership but participants should schedule their own appointments with staff in the offices of Members of Congress and Senators representing their own districts. We will laso provide training and talking points to ensure that participants are prepared on December 4th. We will provide regular updates to those who register.
The moment for us to ACT is NOW.
