The planned event, taking place early in the afternoon on November 3rd, is our “National Die-In To Vote,” a rally intended to strongly emphasize the importance and necessity of voting in the general election on November 6th, as well as in all elections that follow. Our protest also will call on the passage of life-saving, gun violence prevention legislation by our elected officials. This event is strictly an exercise of our First Amendment right to speech and peaceful protest, and will consist of the following components, in this order: a live mural painted by Manuel Oliver of Change The Ref - an activist, artist, and father of Joaquin Oliver, one of the 17 victims in the Stoneman Douglas shooting; speeches from gun violence prevention advocates, school shooting survivors from Parkland, Pulse, and others; and a 17 minute die-in demonstration at the end of the rally to illustrate the effect of rampant gun violence in our country. Partnering organizations for the event are National Die-In, Change The Ref, MoCo Students For Change, and March For Our Lives.
